A 911 call first reported two vehicles on fire, but by the time firefighters were on scene, the blaze had spread to six vehicles in the parking lot near A & S Auto Services Inc. in Northridge.

When a Community Waste Disposal garbage truck began smoldering Monday afternoon, firefighters decided the safest place to empty it was the fire station.

Crews from three neighboring districts also responded to assist in containing the fire. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and no injuries were reported.
